5G NR Technical Training

Gain a technical understanding of the 5G NR (new radio) global standard and learn how it supports the growth of the 5G ecosystem. You’ll explore advanced technologies like higher frequency bands, massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output), beamforming, and dynamic spectrum sharing.

5G NR Air Interface Training

Discover the foundation of the 5G wireless system and learn how this global standard is responsible for delivering the high-speed and low-latency connectivity required to support advanced applications and services. Topics include NR protocol, SYNC signals, RACH, reference signals, and more.

5G NR Call Processing: Non-Standalone Mode

Explore the capabilities of 5G NR non-standalone (NSA) mode and how you can leverage new technologies within existing 4G LTE infrastructure. Topics include 5G NR call processing, EN-DC options 3/3a/3x, NSA NR initial access, EN-DC procedures, beam management, and key MAC/PHY procedures.

Certification Exam

Once you’ve completed your courses, you’re ready to earn your Qualcomm Associate-Level 5G certification. The 5G certificate exam is two hours long and consists of 80 questions related to the following topics:

Who is the program for?

Our program is designed for those who want to start their career in the telecommunications industry, as well as those already working in the industry who want to focus on 5G wireless technology. The program can also benefit business professionals who want to understand how 5G is changing the way we conduct business.

Do I need a degree to take these courses?

No. The program is open to degree holders as well as students currently working towards a degree at San Diego State University. It’s also open to working professionals outside of SDSU.

How do I register for courses?

Please click the “register” button on the Courses tab on this page. Within five business days, Qualcomm Wireless Academy will email you with program login details.

How will I take my courses?

Each course consists of eight hours of material delivered in a flexible, self-paced, and fully-online format. You can view lessons on your own schedule.

Do I need to take the courses in any specific order?

No. Courses are non-sequential.

Who designed the course content?

Our courses are designed by a team of expert instructors from the Qualcomm Wireless Academy. Instructors include leaders, managers, and engineers with decades of experience in the telecommunications industry. Please note that lessons are pre-recorded.

How do I prepare for the certification exam?

The exam tests for knowledge that you’ll acquire through the training courses. Each course also concludes with a series of questions that will help you prepare for the exam.

Can I purchase courses individually?

No. Your purchase is for all three courses and one exam.

What’s your refund policy?

Students may request refunds within 30 days after purchase, minus a $21 administrative fee provided they have not logged into the class. Refunds will not be issued after you have logged into the class with your username and password. You cannot review the course material before purchase.

How do I receive a 5G certification?

After completing three courses, you’ll enroll in an online certification exam. The exam consists of 80 questions and covers topics that you’ll explore in the courses. Once you pass the exam, you’ll receive an official 5G Associate-Level Certification from Qualcomm.

What jobs will this certification prepare me for?

With a 5G certificate from Qualcomm, you’ll be prepared to start or advance your career in a variety of positions in the telecommunications industry. Past students have become system designers, test engineers, and software engineers.

How much does the program cost? What do I receive with my purchase?

The complete program costs $995. Upon creating your QWA account, you’ll receive one year of access to all three courses and the opportunity to take the certification exam. If you do not pass the exam, it can be retaken for an additional $129.

Do you offer professional development/career service opportunities for graduates?

In addition to receiving your Qualcomm 5G certification, upon completion of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to upload your CV to Qualcomm’s career portal and connect with Qualcomm recruiters.

What do I receive upon completion of the program?

Once you’ve successfully passed the exam, you’ll receive an Associate-Level 5G Certification from Qualcomm Wireless Acadamy. You’ll receive your certification in a digital PDF format. We encourage you to display your certification on your LinkedIn profile by publishing it under the “Licenses & Certifications” section of your profile. You can also use the certificate PDF for your email signature.
