Why should I choose Professional Development Online?
Professional Development Online (PDOL) is a convenient and affordable way to learn the skills you need to advance yourself personally and professionally. PDOL provides you the added benefit of maximum flexibility. Take classes in the privacy of your home, at work or virtually anywhere you have access to the web. You also have the option of downloading your courses to a laptop when web access is not available and uploading your work when completed.

Do I have to be admitted to SDSU to take these classes?
No, you do not have to be admitted to SDSU. Our professional development programs are designed for working adults and the registration process is simple and convenient. For more information on registration, see Registration Information.

When do classes start?
You may enroll and start courses at any time. After your registration is processed (this takes two business days), you will receive an email with a user name and password within three business days. When you receive this, you are ready to begin. Simply go to sdsu.skillport.com, enter your user name and password and click "login."

How long do I have to take a program?
You will have up to 12 months to complete a program. At the time you complete your program (anytime during that 12 month period), your access rights to Professional Development Online will expire.

How do I decide which program to take?
Be sure to read the course descriptions carefully when deciding on a program. Think about whether the particular courses match your personal and professional goals.

How do I successfully complete a program?
In order to receive your certificate, you must receive an average score of 70% or higher on each of the lessons. You may take the assessments as many times as necessary, but you must obtain this score in order to receive credit for completion. A program is considered finished after successfully completing each course within that program. You will be able to check your progress throughout the program.

How long does it take to complete a program?
Each course has an "Expected Duration" posted. This time is an average and individuals may vary in their completion time. Courses are self-paced so actual times will depend on your speed and previous knowledge.

What will I receive for completing a program?
When you have successfully completed all the courses in the program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University.

What is the refund policy?
Refunds will not be issued after a course has been started. If a course has not been started, refunds will be issued up to three months after the enrollment date (no refunds after the three month period), minus a $21 administrative fee.
