Adrienne FusekAdrienne Fusek
Director, Faculty-Led Study Abroad
As a Spanish major and Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) student at Humboldt State University, Adrienne spent a year on the CSU-IP study abroad program in Querétaro, México. The experience was so transformational that she decided to dedicate her career to helping students gain similar experiences. Since then, she has held various positions related to study abroad, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bangladesh, earned a master's degree in international education from SIT Graduate Institute and a doctor of education from SDSU.

Take full advantage of the opportunity to see the world while you're in school. When else will you be able to use financial aid and earn credit for doing something so amazing? See as much and stay as long as you can!

 

 

Luis VegaLuis Vega
Assistant Director, Faculty-Led Study Abroad
Luis joined the SDSU family in July of 2014 and serves as the liaison for faculty members, SDSU staff, and domestic and international partner institutions, developing, managing, and promoting faculty-led study abroad programs. Luis was born and grew up in Costa Rica and although his undergraduate and graduate work is in business administration, his true passion lies in international education, a passion he discovered while completing an English as a Foreign Language Certificate at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Meeting students from all over the world and learning about their different cultures made him realize there was so much to explore, and he decided to pursue a career in international education. Prior to joining SDSU, Luis worked for multinational corporations and higher education institutions in Costa Rica and the United States. He has traveled extensively throughout Central America, Canada, Israel, London, and almost all the Caribbean islands.

Plan ahead but, at the same time, be open-minded and go with the flow. It is OK if you have to wait 30 minutes for your server at the restaurant. After all, you are in Paris!

 

 

Amanda ChamberlainAmanda Chamberlain
Advisor, Faculty-Led Study Abroad
Amanda completed her undergraduate degree at UC San Diego, where she participated in a spring break service program in Honduras, and a semester-long study abroad program at one of the top universities in Nairobi, Kenya. These experiences greatly influenced her path after graduation, as she saw the amazing value that study abroad added to her education and felt the need to encourage more students to take advantage of the opportunity. Amanda has worked with universities all over the West Coast in sending students abroad, and students all over the country who were interested in studying in Kenya and Tanzania. She expanded her international expertise during travels to England, Scotland, Ireland, Turkey, and Tanzania. Amanda loves helping students achieve their goal of studying abroad and enhancing their global perspective.

Always go with an open mind. You never know what amazing things a new culture has in store for you.

 

 

Philip HoogPhilip Hoog
Advisor, Faculty-Led Study Abroad
Phil joined the SDSU family in 2012 and the CES Faculty-Led office in January 2015. With a Master's degree in Anthropology, Phil offers a broad range of experience, including working at museums where he put together exhibits, worked with Native American communities, and interacted with people from all over the world. Studying abroad in Rome, Italy as a junior in college opened Phil's eyes to the diverse world around him. Since then, he's traveled to the Middle East and throughout Europe, including several trips to visit cities of his family's ancestry in both Western and Eastern Europe. He truly values encouraging others to take any opportunity to travel and learn about other cultures.
