In Tribal Cultural Monitoring you’ll learn what it takes to protect the cultural heritage of Indigenous communities everywhere. You’ll study the various techniques that cultural monitors use to ensure that tribal homelands, artifacts, and ancestral remains aren’t threatened by construction and other human activities. Throughout the course, you’ll hear from experts in law, archaeology, osteology, and more – all of whom advocate for principled cultural monitoring. You’ll also critically examine the often-distorted use of cultural monitors as revenue sources for firms supporting insensitive construction companies and institutions, rather than as protectors of cultural heritage.
